VAXscan for Alpha or Integrity

Move your VAX SCAN environment to Alpha or Integrity

VAX SCAN is a direct port of VAX SCAN to OpenVMS/Alpha and OpenVMS/Integrity.

VAXscan is a block-structured programming language that runs in the OpenVMS Alpha and OpenVMS VAX environments to build tools to manipulate text strings and text files.

The primary applications for VAXscan are filters, translators, extractors/analyzers, and preprocessors. It is a versatile tool that includes string operators for searching, comparing, extracting, and assigning character strings.

A significant strength of VAXscan is in the pattern-matching constructs that permit matching of one or more complex patterns of text in the input data.

It is used by many companies that process large amounts of text data or utilize complex procedures to manipulate input data streams.

VAX SCAN can use the Language-Sensitive Editor (LSE) and with Source Code Analyzer (SCA), to further aid in the development of programs. VAX SCAN is implemented based on the lexical and semantic modules from the VAX SCAN Compiler, which generates an intermediate representation of the SCAN modules in ANSI C code. Because of this, VAX SCAN requires an installed DEC C compiler. VAX SCAN modules can be linked with modules written in other OpenVMS languages to produce an executable image that can be executed by the OpenVMS RUN command.

It looks like VAX SCAN. Original VAX SCAN modules can be linked with modules written in other OpenVMS languages to produce an executable image that can be executed by the OpenVMS RUN command.
VAX SCAN provides support for error diagnostics to the Language-Sensitive Editor (LSE) cross-reference information to the Source Code Analyzer (SCA), to further aid in the development of programs.
